Dale Tiongson ’17: A Great Experience at St. Paul’s

At 2017 graduate of St. Paul’s, Dale currently attends Princeton University. While at St. Paul’s he was a member of the Cum Laude Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Model UN Member. He was an All-America wrestler and played soccer. Dale shared some memories of his time at St. Paul’s:

When I found St. Paul’s I got a sense of a small, tight-knit community that I saw myself excelling in. The school most definitely had the academic opportunities through the International Baccalaureate Program that would enable me to pursue my interests and challenge myself. However, upon entering St. Paul’s my junior year I had no idea just how large of an impact the school and community surrounding it would have on my life.

The community quickly took me in as one of their own. Soccer in the fall provided me with the opportunity to both involve myself in the St. Paul’s community right away and make tight bonds with my peers outside of the classroom setting. I was encouraged to partake in the Model United Nations club by a few of my peers and further immersed myself in the St. Paul’s community through school-sponsored trips and lively club periods. Wrestling gave me the opportunity to use my talents in order to positively impact and represent the school, and while I was receiving world-class coaching in the wrestling room, I was also receiving world-class teaching in the classroom. I saw myself excel academically my junior year at St. Paul’s and was able to put myself in an extremely favorable position heading into the college process thanks to the unique classroom settings I found myself in.

By the time my senior year had come around I truly felt as though I had been at St. Paul’s my entire high school career, and only wished that that was the case. The school has provided me with amazing friends, great teachers, and numerous opportunities to better myself and my community. My college search ultimately came down to the fact that my future school reminded me the most of St. Paul’s, a big beautiful campus with a small student population and strong passion for providing the best opportunities in all aspects of education, encompassing academics, athletics, or anything that a student might want to pursue. The sense of brotherhood and community I have found at St. Paul’s was more than I could have ever hoped for, and I will carry that with me throughout my college career and life.
