A 2017 graduate of St. Paul’s, Kyle Dipietro attends John’s Hopkins University where he plays lacrosse. While as St. Paul’s he was a cast member of “Hairspray” and “Peter and the StarCatcher” as well as a lacrosse and basketball player. Kyle shared with us about his experience at St. Paul’s.
My experience at St. Paul’s School for boys has been amazing. I have attended this school since pre-first. Living 5 minutes from here, this place has literally felt like my second home. I would like to start off with talking about the St. Paul’s Community. The St. Paul’s community is a very special one. To give an example of this, students including me leave their valuables out knowing that it will be there when they get back. I’ve just recently come to realize that this does not happen in the real world it just happens here. Not only this but everyone in the community is nice and friendly. You do not just have a small group of friends, you are friends with your whole grade. My classes and the teachers over the years have been great. They teach with the perfect balance of making the class hard/making you think and helping you.
I was also given the time and variety of choices to try new experiences during and after school. During middle school I played football basketball and lacrosse. In high school during my freshmen year I played basketball and lacrosse. We won the JV basketball championship. I then played these same sports for sophomore and junior year. Than my senior year I decided to do the musical in the fall, the play in the winter and lacrosse in the spring. I played sports my whole life and never even thought about trying the arts. Because St. Paul’s pushes students to try new things and has them on campus this allowed me to try new things and have a great experience.
I was also taught to be a St. Paul’s Gentleman. This means being a respectful and loyal young man that also follows the honor code that we have. This honor code is a code that we will not lie, cheat, steal and allow people to cheat. I feel that this school as a whole has made the best possible impact on me. Most importantly St. Paul’s has taught me to be a St. Paul’s Gentleman which is known in the real world as being a good person.
